It’s not every day you get to incorporate mermaids into your portfolio— not to mention a real-life product. I had the opportunity to brand a prenatal vitamin from scratch. The goal? Make a black pill easier to swallow (figuratively) for a target audience of free-spirited moms-to-be. The solution? Make it mermaid.

The black pearl symbolizes fertility and eternal love, making it the perfect name for a prenatal vitamin. To tie the mystical ocean theme together, Black Pearl Beginnings’ mermaid was born. Mermaids are symbols of magic and wonder, reminding expectant mothers to nourish their inner mermaid while they treat their treasure. To make this ethereal brand stand out even more, I pitched iridescent packaging and just-as-magical copy to match.
